Strange World

Have you ever thought about this question?  What a strange world we live in?  Let me give you a few examples.

  • People are social creatures.  Yet more and more, people tend to isolate themselves.
    • Years ago, everyone had a front porch.  It was common to go for a walk only to discover that your walk was cut short by someone beckoning you to come up onto the porch and visit.  Today, walks are longer and there are no interruptions.  Everyone now sits on a deck in the back yard surrounded by a privacy fence;
    • There was a time when you actually visited with your friends face to face.  Now people boast that they have 1,000 friends on Facebook, but at the same time don’t hardly know one living soul;
    • We go to the ballgame to have fun.  We sit with 50,000 other cheering fans.  When we get back home, we realize we didn’t even make eye contact with the person in the seat next to us;
  • We all want more money.  But for the most part, when we get it, we hoard it away and save it for a rainy day.  Meanwhile, our neighbors may have come upon hard times and we do not share.  Our sage advice is usually, “Get another job, work harder.”
  • We glamorize war and violence with T.V., movies, and video games.  When violence comes our way, we ask, “Why doesn’t somebody do something?”  Then we turn on T.V. and watch more violence---and call it entertainment.
  • Parents try to limit their children’s “screen time” however they spend every waking minute on their own “screens” checking out FB, email, and texts.
  • We work hard during our lifetime.  We sacrifice relationships during our lifetime to chase the almighty dollar.  Only at the very end do we realize that the dollars we gained count for nothing and the relationships sacrificed count for everything.

Yes, it is a strange world we live in.  The King of Kings came to save us and they killed Him.  He’s come for you too.  Don’t reject Him and kill Him again……

Love and blessings,
Pastor Allan
