Reflections From the Heart of Allan Redenius
Have you ever thought about how past experiences have taught you life lessons?  Here’s a couple of examples.
 

• Buffalo Creek is not deep and wide.  Oh, as a boy, when fishing under Rainbow Bridge, I thought the water was as deep as China was far away.  Then one day, I dropped my fishing pole into the water.  One of my friends said, “Give me a dollar and I’ll go in and get it for you.”  Thinking there was no way he could retrieve my fishing pole, I agreed to the bargain.  I learned that day that you never know how deep the water is until you get in.  I lamented living up to my part of the bargain, but at least I had my fishing pole back.

 

• Once a year the carnival came to town.  Along with all the amusement rides comes all these games of chance.  I took a chance, and then another, and then another until my whole week’s earnings were gone, eight dollars.  I learned that night that not everyone is honest.  Though I knew that bit of trivia, throughout my life, I’ve always assumed someone is honest—until they prove they are not.  Yes-sir-ree, I’ve lost a hundred times that eight dollars over my lifetime.  Then you take a chance on one guy who is honest and make a thousand times your eight dollars.

 

• Sometimes tall grass on the side of the road makes the road look like there is a wide shoulder.  Sometimes it’s just tall grass.  Thud…..

 
Life experiences rely on not forgetting life experiences.
 
Here’s a life experience I’ll never forget.  Jesus died on the cross for you and for me.
