Guardian Angels

Reflections from the Heart of Allan Redenius

Have you ever thought about that, as a kid, how busy your personal guardian angel must have been?  Before I go on, I believe in guardian angels.  From Matthew 18:10, we hear Jesus.  “See that you do not look down on one of these little ones.  For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of My Father in heaven.”  Especially in my youth, my angel was very busy!

On the farm, Dad hired a caterpillar to dig a big and deep hole out in the field.  In it, he put lots of old lumber and junk.  Then he set the wood on fire.  After the flames and embers went out, that deep and dangerous hole kept calling out.  “Allan, come and play!”  A mountain of dirt on the side of the hole made it even more exciting.  As I reached the summit of that towering mountain, it was then I could look down into the hole, now filled with water.  It’s a wonder I didn’t slip off that mountain, slide into the water, and drown.  I suppose I can thank my guardian angel for that.

Now floating in the water were all these jars that were thrown in with all the other junk.  Do you know how much fun a boy can have flying his imaginary bomber airplane, throwing rocks as bombs to break and sink the target?  One thousand bombs (rocks) later, there were no more floating targets to sink.

I’ve walked on thin ice.  Got dizzy as my car spun around three times one icy morning, only to stop headed in the direction I was going.  I dangled from a rain gutter as my ladder fell away.  Once I was lost in the mountains of New Hampshire.  Now, just getting out of bed is an adventure! 😊

I could tell you about other adventures that would have kept my guardian angel busy, but I suspect they might be edited out.  Did you know that past the second light on a radio tower, the tower begins to sway?  That’s what I’ve been told. 😊

Stay safe so your guardian angel doesn’t have to work so hard!

Love,
Pastor Allan
