Reflections from the Heart of Allan Redenius
At the cemetery, as they were burying my sister in 2010, my two year old nephew (her son) asked his Daddy, “Daddy, can we take the green truck and drive to heaven to visit Mommy?”
Recently, one of our friends died. His name was Matt. We had gone to the funeral and our son picked up our youngest grandson from school. Our grandson wondered where we were and our son explained that we had gone to the funeral of one of our friends. After our grandson had thought this through with the innocence and wisdom of a six year old, listen to their conversation.
Our grandson asked, “Could I have Matt’s cell phone number?” To which our son replied, “Why do you want Matt’s cell phone number?” Here was his answer. It so touched my heart and I know it will move yours’ as well. “I want to call him to be sure he got to heaven O.K.”
In both my nephew and my grandson, I hear the voice of Jesus. I hear the voice of hope in death. No wonder Jesus challenges us to have a child-like faith.
With a tear in my eye, I remain…..
