Reflection from the Heart of Allan Redenius
I never give my reflections a title—but if I were to title this one, it would be, 38 Minutes of Panic.
We’ve all watched different war movies and heard the battle cry of “incoming.” “Incoming” is the word used to warn of an impending air strike, artillery shelling, or maybe even today, a missile enroute. Last week, the people of Hawaii opened their phones to a text message that basically warned them of “incoming.” The Hawaii Civil Defense Department accidently sent a text that read, “Ballistic missile threat inbound to Hawaii. Seek immediate shelter. This is not a drill.”
It took 38 minutes before the Hawaii Civil Defense system followed up with, “It was all a mistake, sorry.” Thirty-eight minutes of panic as people stopped their cars on the freeway, ran from buildings with seemingly nowhere to go, they called loved ones, they raced home to be with loved ones; I even read where some people put their children in storm sewers for safety.
Ask me about the one thing I did not see or read much about anyone doing in those 38 minutes of sheer panic. There were only a very few reports of people praying. Tell me that in 38 minutes a nuclear bomb would be on my doorstep, you can bet your bottom dollar, I’d be praying! I know a whole lot of you would too. At least, that’s what we say we would do.
Seriously, think about what you would do if suddenly there were only 38 minutes left in your life. If you’re not right with the Lord, you better get right real quick. Why? Here’s the answer in one word of warning….INCOMING!!
Yes, Jesus could be here in 38 minutes---be ready!
Love you all,
