That's No Bull

Reflections from the Heart of Allan Redenius
My mom told the story of walking to school one day.  She attended a one room schoolhouse.  Her shortcut route, from her farmhouse to the schoolhouse, had her climb over a fence and walk across the neighbor's pasture.  One day, she took her traditional shortcut, not knowing that the neighbor had put a bull in the pasture to roam her route.  She tells the story of how she had to run and climb a tree to escape that charging bull.  I wonder, how long she had to wait in her perch?
 
Once upon a time, my dad bought a new bull.  One wintry day, mom and I were doing chores in the barn in which he was keeping this new bull.  As mom was feeding and throwing a fork full of hay over the rail for him, he charged at her.  Now there were 2x12’s to fence him in, but they were as toothpicks to this big bull.  “Run!  Run!” was her scream to me.  We both escaped...and that's no bull. 
 
Sometimes, things happen that are out of our control, things we do not anticipate.  It is then we try to escape by doing things our own way, like climbing a tree, running away, or any number of countless things.  Sometimes, there is no escape from that which charges at us.  All too often we neglect the most important thing, and that is to pray.  Unless a bull is charging at you.  Then there is no time to pray….just run and say, “Jesus, save me!”  😊
 
My advice is to pray before you need to pray.
