Pray For People Wherever You Go

Reflections from the Heart of Allan Redenius
Most people, while in a crowd, don't even think about or even look at the people around and about them.  Everyone just kind of ignores each other and mentally isolates themselves from all others.  How many times have we sat beside someone at a ball game, in an airplane, even in church, and after several hours still do not know their name?  In fact, even being that close, we never make eye contact.

Whenever I'm in a crowd anymore there is a new thought that bubbles to the surface in my brain, a new burden rests upon my heart.  People walk on by and I can't help but wonder to myself, “Are they saved?  Do they know Jesus as Lord?  Will they be in heaven with me?”  Can't help it, but that's my thought and my heart.

I attend a local athletic event, a music program, or some other assembly and, as I look over the crowd, I see many acquaintances.  Some I know are saved, others I'm not so certain.  For those, my heart aches.

What do I do?  Many already think, “I'm not quite right.” 😊 If I get a sign that says John 3:16 and stand on the street corner shouting out, “Jesus saves!” I will only confirm what many already think.

So, I look to Jesus as my example.  Most of the time He preached and people came to Him.  For example, five thousand men came to hear Him and He fed them with two fish and five loaves of bread.  So, I do what Jesus did, except of course the miracle of the feeding of so many with so little, although I might try.  😊  I preach the saving grace of Jesus Christ from the pulpit.  I pray that the crowd, for which I have such a heart, just comes and listens.  Romans 10:17 (LB) says, “Faith comes from listening to the Good News--the Good News about Christ.”

If you are with me in a crowd and you think I'm not engaged… I really am.  If you are part of a crowd in church, or part of a crowd at another event that I attend, and you think I am not being attentive, know that I am praying for your salvation.

From a pastor's heart,
Pastor Allan
